Two International Property Awards
In the 2025-2026 season, the Harland & Poston Group, of which Investment Visa is part of, has won two distinct honours by the International Property Awards in the European region.
Among the hundreds of entries submitted across Europe, the Harland & Poston Group stood out with two awards in two distinct categories:
- Best New Hotel Construction & Design Portugal - becoming an automatic Nominee for Best New Hotel Construction & Design Europe
- Best Residential Development (10–19 Units)
The Portimão Hotel: From Abandonment to Sustainability Landmark
What was once the long-abandoned Tropimar Hotel is now being reimagined as the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portimão, a 60-room, next-generation hotel scheduled to open in 2026's first trimester.
Developed by HP Invest, the Harland & Poston Group’s project development and construction arm, the Portimão Hotel fuses modern architecture, coastal identity, and environmental innovation.
The project preserves the original concrete structure while transforming it into a fully energy-efficient building designed for zero fossil fuel use.
Beyond its architectural transformation, the project’s sustainability-driven engineering set it apart and played a defining role in its European Property Awards win.
Pátio do Jordão: Residential Development Excellence
In the heart of Lisbon’s Mouraria district, Pátio do Jordão, already completed and in operation, has completely redefined its surrounding urban space.
Once a deteriorating 19th-century courtyard, it has been meticulously transformed by the Harland & Poston Group into an award-winning residential development that balances architectural authenticity with modern living.
Comprising 11 exclusive apartments, Pátio do Jordão preserves the site’s historic façade, vaulted ceilings, and limestone detailing while integrating contemporary comforts such as thermal and acoustic insulation, anti-seismic reinforcement, and energy-efficient materials.
The project’s design prioritises sustainability and liveability:
- Natural light optimisation and solar exposure through strategic building orientation;
- Native landscaping and a central green courtyard, creating a tranquil community space;
- Reused and restored traditional materials, including lime plaster and timber joinery;
- Locally crafted finishes, such as hydraulic tiles, Lioz marble, and Riga pine flooring.
Pátio do Jordão is not only a set of apartments - it’s a tribute to Lisbon’s architectural heritage, demonstrating how adaptive reuse can deliver both beauty and longevity.
The project’s success was recognised with the Best Residential Development (10–19 Units) award, honouring the Group’s ability to combine craftsmanship, cultural respect, and investment value within one cohesive vision.
